The last time working families in Illinois got a raise was in 2010 when the minimum wage was raised to $8.25 an hour. And while the cost of living has continued to rise over the years, wages have remained woefully stagnant.
Majority Leader Kimberly Lightford has been calling attention to the disparity in wages and the cost of living for years. Last year, she sponsored a similar bill which passed out of both chambers, but then-Governor Bruce Rauner vetoed it.
We need support from people like you to finally get this bill passed. Let’s propel Gov. Pritzker to a strong start to his term – for too long working Illinois families have struggled, and it needs to stop.
